Wednesday - September 16th

1- To stand up = levantar se (qdo se está sentado)
2- To sit down = sentar se
3- To turn off = desligar
4- To turn on = Ligar
5- To have lunch = almoçar

To stand up

a) The students stand up when the teacher came in the class.
b) Do you use to stand up when an old lady get on a bus?
c) I don't like when the bishop asks me to stand up to pray.
d) Please everybody stand up cos' the President's speech is about to start.


To sit down

a) Ok Mr. Ribeiro, sit down please!
b) Ok. Now you can sit down.
c) Welcome to my house! Sit down please!
d) Would you like to sit down while I look for the document?


To turn off

a) She turned the tv off because the program was not available for children.
b) I forgot to turn the radio off when I left home this morning.
c) Please, turn off the tv if you aren't gonna watch it anymore.
d) If you don't turn off the tap your water rate will be very expensive this month.


To turn on


a) Turn the tv on please! The game will start in two minutes!
b) I turned the tv on but I forgot to turn it off.
c) Why is the tv off? Turn it on! I need to watch my soup opera.
d) Turn the radio on! My favorite program is about to start!



To have lunch


a) I almost never have lunch at home cos' I'm working at lunch's time.
b) Do you use to have lunch at home?
c) I had lunch at my friend's yesterday.
d) Did you have lunch at work?
